About this sky
Observatory
25,791 real stars from HYG v4.1, David Nash’s compilation of stellar catalogs, down to apparent magnitude 7.5.
JavaScript projects their fixed celestial coordinates onto a canvas. A virtual telescope pans, zooms, and rolls across the sky; a new star is labeled every fifteen seconds. Positions are real; the camera tour, brightness, and colors are visual interpretations.
